Creating Space for Peace Through Art and Play

Peacebuilding needs to have a safe and welcoming space in order to accomplish its goals. Art provides a simple and creative outlet for people in conflict to express themselves. Recreation helps build a spirit of friendship while achieving a shared common goal.

Throughout history, the arts have been a way for people to speak out. Whether during the current conflict in Syria or following the Great Depression in the U.S., people have always been using the arts for expression and healing.

In addition, sports are great for team-building and creating solidarity between children who otherwise might never have become friends.
